This discovery makes the dragons panic to the point that some would rather fight sooner than go into hiding. Their conversation is suddenly interrupted by a colossal noise which makes them discover a construction site in operation. Later, Sorrel listens to Firedrake tell her about a wonderful place far away called Rim of Heaven, suggesting new life although the brownie doesn't floss as enthusiastically since her father once told her the outside world was dangerous. They end up tumbling to the ground and after leaving, Firedrake expresses the frustration with having to stay hidden while Sorrel simply accepts it because they are safe and that is most important. Sorrel and her best friend, Firedrake, climb to the top of a ridge to spy on a reunion between the dragons. She tells her family so much about Ben, she even waved goodbye to Ben and his new family and gave Ben a loving smile, which may hint that she and Ben may become a couple. After these events, Sorrel realizes how wrong she was about humans and stopped judging and became not only devoted to Firedrake, but to Ben, as well. When the orphan had abandoned the duo, she felt hurt just as much as Firedrake did.Īfter Nettlebrand's defeat, Sorrel punches Ben for deserting them but she forgives him, and the human and the brownie really became friends, and she may even really like Ben. For example, Sorrel saves Ben from the basilisk, she smiled when Ben flirted with her, she cared for Ben when he was drugged by Djinn and she was relieved when Ben recovered, and even though she admitted to Ben that she doubted him at first, she actually showed that like Firedrake, she has faith in Ben. Despite all of that, even though she didn't trust Ben, she shows that she actually cares about him just as much as Firedrake does. When Ben joined in on the adventure, Sorrel had no confidence in him at first, sometimes argued with him and tried to get rid of him by annoying him into leaving by pushing off a small cliff, once. She openly despises humans because of their past actions, mostly because her parents tell her that stuff. Sorrel is hugely devoted to Firedrake and will never let him down, no matter how crazy the dragon's ideas are and how much she knows about the naive nature of her best friend. ~ Ben complimenting Sorrel on her bold nature.
